Due to the physical and mechanical properties, namely its abrasion and impact resistance, Geothane polyurethane is extensively used to manufacture a variety of products within the mining, quarrying and material handling industries. Products are manufactured with holes, slots and metal inserts incorporated eliminating the need for drilling etc. to be undertaken prior to the product being incorporated.

Mercol Polymers also produce a Geothane Flame Retardant grade polyurethane which is approved for use in all underground situations where stringent health and safety provisions are required. The product is used extensively in the manufacture of plough blades, scraper blades, skirts and impact bars for use within the U.K. mining industry.

The Company also specialises in producing polyurethane scraper blades for use on plant and equipment within the road construction and maintenance industry. Geothane polyurethane scraper blades are already supplied to three major international manufacturers of road construction equipment.
